Belgium's Ministry of Defence Admits Attackers Accessed Its Computer Network Through Log4j Vulnerability
The Belgian Ministry of Defense suffered a cyber attack because criminals exploited a Log4j vulnerability. This attack marks the first time a NATO country's defense department has become a victim of these vulnerabilities. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense said: "The Ministry of Defense discovered its computer network was subject to a cyber attack and promptly took measures to isolate the affected parts. The primary task is maintaining the availability of the defense network." He added: "This attack occurred after exploiting the Log4j vulnerability, which was disclosed last week, and IT experts worldwide are involved." The Belgian government's cybersecurity center issued a press release stating: "Companies using Apache Log4j software but have not yet acted may face significant issues in the coming days and weeks."

Propane gas distributor Superior Plus Corp recently revealed it was the victim of a ransomware attack on December 12.
